Log Book Service

Australian law is on your side here: you are not required to service a new car at the dealership to keep its warranty. Any qualified workshop can do it, as long as the work follows the manufacturer's schedule and uses the right parts and oils.

We service to the log book, use manufacturer-spec oils and filters, and stamp and date the book properly. You keep the warranty and you don't pay dealer prices.

When you need it Every 10,000–15,000 km or 12 months, whichever comes first — check your log book.

Vehicle Diagnostics

A check-engine light is not one problem — it's the car telling you it has stored a fault code. Reading that code properly is the difference between fixing the actual issue and replacing parts one at a time until something works.

We plug in, read the codes, then test to confirm what the code is actually pointing at. You get told what's wrong and what it costs before we touch anything.

When you need it As soon as a warning light comes on — especially if it's flashing.

Brakes & Clutch

Brakes are the one thing on a car worth never delaying. Squealing usually means pads. Grinding means you've gone past pads and are into the discs, which costs considerably more.

We measure what's left rather than guessing, show you the old part, and tell you straight whether it needs doing now or can wait until the next service.

When you need it Squealing, grinding, a soft pedal, or the car pulling to one side when you brake.

Air Conditioning

Car air conditioning loses a little gas every year — that's normal. If yours is blowing warm, it's usually low gas, and often there's a small leak behind it worth finding before you just top it up again.

We test for leaks first, then regas. Topping up a leaking system is money you'll spend again next summer.

When you need it Blowing warm, a musty smell, or it's been more than two or three years since the last regas.

Batteries & Electrical

Most cars that won't start have a flat battery — but a battery that keeps going flat usually means something else is draining it, or the alternator isn't charging properly.

We test the battery, the alternator and the draw on the system, so you're not back in a fortnight with a brand new battery that's already dead.

When you need it Slow cranking, dash lights dimming, or the car needing a jump start more than once.

Engine & Transmission

This is the serious end of the workshop. Timing belts have a replacement interval for a reason — on many engines a snapped belt destroys the engine, and the repair costs more than the car is worth.

Big jobs get quoted in writing before we start, and if we find something extra once we're in there, you get a phone call — not a bigger bill at the end.

Check your log book for the timing belt interval. If you've bought the car second-hand and there's no record of it being done, assume it hasn't been.

When you need it At the manufacturer's timing belt interval, or if you notice slipping gears, overheating or knocking.

Tyres & Wheel Balancing

A steering wheel that shakes at highway speed is nearly always wheel balance. Uneven tyre wear usually means alignment, or tyres that haven't been rotated.

Rotating your tyres at each service costs almost nothing and can add thousands of kilometres to a set. It's the cheapest saving on the whole car.

When you need it Vibration at speed, uneven wear across the tread, or tread depth under 3mm.

Radiator & Cooling

Overheating is the fastest way to turn a small bill into a very large one. A leaking hose or a stuck thermostat is a modest repair. An engine that's been driven hot is not.

If the temperature gauge climbs, pull over and let it cool. Don't try to make it home — that drive is usually what does the damage.

When you need it Temperature gauge rising, coolant smell, puddles under the car, or the heater blowing cold.
